Jared Haught

Freestyle Coach, SERTC

Assistant Coach, Virginia Tech

Parkersburg, West Virginia

Jared Haught is heading into his third year as the Virginia Tech volunteer assistant coach. He came to Virginia Tech by way of Parkersburg High School where he won three West Virginia state titles. His college career is a fantastic story in and of itself.

After redshirting his true freshman year Haught qualified for the NCAA tournament and actually posted a losing record. From that point forward there was little but solid improvement. He came back the following year to achieve All-American honors in his 15’-16’ campaign, and repeated as an All-American earning 4th Place in the 16’-17’ season.

His senior year he truly left his mark by making a trip to the NCAA finals, only achieved one time prior by former teammate Devin Carter. Haught did this by way of a fantastic pin of then undefeated Ben Darmstadt of Cornell in the semi-finals of the NCAA Tournament.

Along the way he also acquired 2 ACC Championships , was on multiple ACC Championship winning teams, and played an integral role in the highest NCAA placing Virginia Tech of all time in 16’ (4th).

While his coaching career is still just beginning he has made big impacts on the middle to upper weights in the Virginia Tech room.. He aided Hunter Bolen in his 19’-20’ ACC Championship as well mentored Mekhi Lewis who followed in his footsteps by also earning a pin in the NCAA Semi-finals to make his second finals appearance in 21’-22’.
